Grierson DocLab: Archive Producers opens for applications
Applications are open for the second iteration of Grierson DocLab: Archive Producers – run in collaboration with Prime Video Pathway. The programme is for those with experience in the industry who have strong ambitions to become archive producers for documentary.

Grierson DocLab: Archive Producers programme is now open for applications. Deadline: 5pm, Thursday 31 July 2025.
The Grierson Trust is delighted to again open applications for Grierson DocLab: Archive Producers, in collaboration with Prime Video Pathway (a suite of training initiatives designed to open up access to jobs in the TV and film industry across the UK).
Crafted to address skills shortages in the talent pipeline for archive producing in the UK documentary-making industry, the programme will offer training and work placement opportunities for those who can demonstrate their strong passion for archive. It will provide them with the support to build and develop their skillset and network to become the archive producers of the future.
The scheme is aimed at people who have four-to-six years’ experience of working in television, film and online content production in roles such as researchers, production assistants, production coordinators, assistant producers, casting researchers, and production managers within a production company setting. If you are a returner to the industry after taking a career break, the period of experience, including breaks, can be extended to up to eight years.
Applicants will need to demonstrate their experience of having worked on productions which have used archive, plus their strong research skills, attention to detail, and exceptional communication and organisational skills, as well as being a creative problem-solver. Candidates should persuasively demonstrate their passion for the use of archive in documentary.
Like all Grierson DocLab training programmes, this iteration welcomes applications from those currently under-represented in the industry, with a particular emphasis on those who are based outside of London, those who may be returning to work after a career break, people from working class backgrounds, and those open to part-time work or job shares. The scheme has been created to help workers who have faced multiple barriers to progression in this growing area of the industry.
Applications will close at 5pm on Thursday 31 July 2025.
To hear more about the programme, ask questions and meet the team delivering the training plus alumni from the first year of the programme, come along to the Discovery Webinar on Wednesday 16 July at 6pm.
